Your License, Our Priority

If convicted for DWI, can you obtain a conditional driver’s license in order to drive to work or school?

DWI Attorney-Dan MatrafajloIn the State of New Jersey if a motorist is convicted or pleads guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol in violation of NJSA 39:4-50 the Judge is required to automatically suspended that motorist driver’s privileges to operate any type of vehicle in the State of New Jersey. The length of suspension depends on the degree of the offense, such as: 1st offense for DWI or 2nd Offense for DWI, etc.

In some sister States, motorist convicted of DWI are provided conditional licenses. For example, the motorist can drive to and from work or may drive to and from school, etc.

However, in the State of New Jersey NO such conditional licenses are offered as a matter of law. In other words, a motorist convicted for DWI does not have the option of applying or obtaining a conditional or provisional driver’s license to operate a vehicle in the State of New Jersey.
