Linden Municipal Court
About New Jersey Municipal Courts
If you go to court as a defendant, a victim, or a witness to a crime, chances are it will be a Municipal Court. There are 530 Municipal Courts in New Jersey, and they collectively handle about 6.5 million cases each year. Each Municipal Court has limited jurisdiction, hearing municipal ordinance violations, motor vehicle and parking tickets, and minor criminal offenses that occur within the boundaries of the municipality it serves. More serious criminal cases are heard at the Superior Court level instead.
